I were actually out looking for interesting wildlife to photograph, when this curious and very cute looking cow caught my eye. It seemed very interested in what that strange human being was doing 🙂

A White-tailed eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) passed right over my head on my last visit to Lille Vildmose, Denmark. It is a really crazy experience to have on of these giant birds pass right over you. With a wingspan of more than two meters, it is the biggest eagle in Northern Europe.

Common Pheasant (Phasianus colchicus). A beautiful bird that can often be seen in the danish nature. It is not particular shy, unless you want to get too close.

Eurasian Jackdaws (Corvus monedula) (Allike in danish) are quite common in my part of the world. Still most people tend to think it is just a crow. It is actually quite different and has very shiny feathers and some very cool eyes.

I have been trying to see this bird, a Eurasian (great) bittern (Botaurus stellaris) for a long time. I finally spotted it, and what a peculiar looking bird. It is really hard to spot it when it sits perfectly still between the reeds. I heard it before I spotted it. It had a unique sound, kinda like when blowing in a bottle, but very loud.
..oh and Rørdrum is the danish name for this bird 🙂

It is always fascinating to see a fox hunting for small rodents. You can tell immediately when they found one. They freeze up for a moment and turn their ears in the direction of their prey. And they get a very determined expression. Moments later, they jump high in the air and lands upon the place they think the prey is located. In most cases (that I have seen), the attack is successful.

Shouldn’t be to hard, should it?
The Dove is made by my daughter. We hung up outside by the driveway, so that everyone passing by would see it.

A young Redstart (Phoenicurus Phoenicurus) is taking a short break after having left its nest for the first time. The parents stayed nearby and sent warning twirps my way, so after taking a couple of pictures I left it alone again. It stayed nearby for a couple of hours and then it was gone.

My Westie Eddie loves running around in the garden, even when it is very cold. Especially when we do a bit of obediency training as well. It is a bit cold for me to lie on the frozen ground with my camera, though, but that’s the price you gotta pay I guess 🙂

So.. Christmas time again.. And again this year, Christmas ended up being very far from the way I expected it. A positive Covid test prevented us from seeing our family, but of course we did all we could to keep up with the Christmas traditions, to give my daughter a wonderful Christmas. This Christmas ornament was a gift from her, and really meant something for me this year. (The text says “Most wonderful dad in the world” in Danish 🙂

Recently a herd of European Wisents (Bisons) were released into a huge area that is closed for the public. I were lucky enough to get on one of the limited guided tours, an on top of that, also got close enough to see the herd on grasslands within the area.
