My Westie Eddie loves running around in the garden, even when it is very cold. Especially when we do a bit of obediency training as well. It is a bit cold for me to lie on the frozen ground with my camera, though, but that’s the price you gotta pay I guess 🙂
X-Mas 2021
So.. Christmas time again.. And again this year, Christmas ended up being very far from the way I expected it. A positive Covid test prevented us from seeing our family, but of course we did all we could to keep up with the Christmas traditions, to give my daughter a wonderful Christmas. This Christmas ornament was a gift from her, and really meant something for me this year. (The text says “Most wonderful dad in the world” in Danish 🙂
Costal Landing site part II
Another picture taken at Thorup Strand in Northern Jutland, Denmark, on a foggy winters day.
This is one of the few remaining Costal Landing sites in Northern Europa, and also the largest. It is the last of its kind in Denmark.
After the snow…
Last week a snow blizzard hit Northern Jutland, and for a couple of days the roads were more or less closed.
I’ve reached a Milestone
Today, while uploading a picture to Flickr, I noticed that, for the first time, on of my images had reach the milestone of 10.000 views.
Even though this is probably nothing for some people, it is still amazing for me to think that 10.000 people have looked at this picture.
Run in the sun
Recently a herd of European Wisents (Bisons) were released into a huge area that is closed for the public. I were lucky enough to get on one of the limited guided tours, an on top of that, also got close enough to see the herd on grasslands within the area.

Wolf
One of the many beautiful animals I have encountered this summer. The wolf has been extinct in Denmark for more than 200 years, but in the last 10 years wolfs has been spotted regularly in Jutland again. I hope I will see one of the wild ones one day. This fine specimen is from a trip to Givskud Zoo and is not a European wolf (Canis lupus lupus) but a North American wolf (Canis lupus occidentalis).

Danish Falcon
Today (September 5th 2021) is Flagdag in Denmark. It is the danish version of Veterans Day, where we celebrate and give our respect to the danish soldiers who have served and been stationed at NATO based throughout the world.
The photo is one I took some years ago at the Danish Airshow 2018 of the RDAF F-16A Block 20 MLU with registration number E-607. This plane has also been stationed at some of the worlds hot spots since it entered service in 1983.

What a smile
Visited Givskud zoo, for the first time in many years. It is a really good zoo, with a lot of animals, that have plenty of room in their habitats. I found out they had one of my favorite animals, the Firefox (Red Panda), so I just had to see them. When I came they had just been fed, and seemed very happy 🙂

Playing around with my Lensbaby Edge 35 sometimes seems to go nowhere, but then at other times it helps you produce images with that moody feeling you want to convey.

What an amazing feeling it must be to just fly off of the cliffs at Rubjerg knude and use the thermals to fly like a bird. Amazing.. and probably a bit frightening as well..
Angry Bird
I was able to get real close and personal with this South African Ostrich (Struthio camelus australis) in Aalborg zoo. It didn’t seem to happy about having a big lens pointing at it and gave me “the look”.
The Sky is the Limit
The meerkats in Aalborg zoo are always fun to watch. Always alert, and yet not shy. This little fella looked like he was daydreaming that one day he would soar like the birds in the sky.
In reality he was most likely scouting for predators 🙂

I don’t usually do these vibrant, colourful type of images, but in this case it just felt.. appropriate.
This is one of those shots that seems to just happen. I was testing the focus limiter on my Tamron 150-600mm G2, and used this flower as target. Sometimes fooling around can result in a nice image too 🙂

Naptime
The Firefox can often be seen napping in a treetop in its habitat in Aalborg zoo. Unfortunately it is mostly hidden between the leaves. In the early spring, there aren’t many leaves to hide behind. Not that it stops the Firefox from having a nice nap.

Taken with the Lensbaby Sweet 50. I had I hard time deciding on colour or monochrome for this one, but I ended up with the colour edit, as I think it had more depth and had more weight on the red door.

Industrial Leftovers
During the last couple of decades, the waterfront in Aalborg has been going through a lot of changes. The old industrial harbour has more or less dissappeared, but some constructions, like the crane-like structure here remains. Most likely to serve as a reminder of the citys past.

Reflection
One of the few remaining Birch trees at the bog Portlandsmosen in Lille Vildmose.
The bog is being restored and as a result there is way to wet for the big trees to grow. They do not belong in a bog and most of them have been removed or died away. This one seems determined to hang in for a while longer.
Floodlight
This is one of those images.. Maybe you can relate? The moment I took it I immediately knew that liked it and wanted to use it.
I came home, processed it and queued it as one of the images I intended to eventually post. But it never happened. It was like every time I considered what to post this week, I decided on something else.
Today I was scrolling through the collection of images I have queued and decided that now was the time to do it.
Costal Landing Site

Sparrowhawk
Even though the snow has melted, the food is still sparse for the animlas here in Denmark. This means that they take more chances than they usually would.
This sparrowhawk (Accipiter nisus) attacked a flock of Rooks and slayed one right outside my windows. Obviously on a day where I didn’t have the Tamron 150-600mm G2 mounted and ready.
So, after frantically running around collecting camera and lens, I were able to take a picture of the proud hawk. The remaining Rooks kept going at it, so it soon disappeared into the nearby woods with its prey.
Candyman
Bolcheriet from Skagen still makes candy the old fashioned way.. by hand. It is amazing to see them make candy. ..and the taste is incredible.
The Cliff
The Lensbaby Edge 35 is sometimes used to make urban scenes look miniature. Here I went for the opposite, trying to make a tiny sand cliff look bigger than it actually were.
