I have a hard time taking pictures with people (strangers) in.. It makes me uncomfortable.. This guy was really nice and chatted a bit and didn’t have any problems letting me take a picture of him and his fishes.

As I were still trying to figure out which sliders did what in Lightroom, I experimented on this shot, I had earlier abandoned because I could not get the mood I wanted. After playing around in Lightroom for a couple of hours I hit the vision I originally had spot on.
Iguana
I’m not really in to these kind of reptiles, but I have to admit it is something special when you stand only half a meter from it and can get a really good look at this creature.
The Katamaran
This picture is actually very special to me. This was were I found out the 40mm pancake were really sharp, but it was also one of the first pictures i edited entirely in Lightroom. It convinced me to move almost all my editing workflow inside Lightroom, and eventhough a lot had to be learned, it was time well spent.
A new tool: Lightroom
For a really long time I have bee trying to find an application that could handle my entire editing workflow, all the way from when I put an SD card in my computer and to when I am ready to publish or print a finished image.
Up until now I have mainly been using Canon DPP, which is an excellent application, but a bit limited in some places. So I have been using Paint Shop Pro as a supplement, along with some plugins from Topaz Labs.
In my search for a better tool, I have tried Corels Aftershot Pro which I think have a lot of potential but also a lot of weaknesses.
It doesn’t help much that Corel seems to have doubts about what they want to do with it.
I also tried Lightzone, and even though it seems like a powerful tool, it isn’t really intuitive to use.
Finally we have the “big player”: Adobe Lightroom. My problem with Lightroom has always been the price, but the reviews has been excellent, so I have been weighting for or against for a while.
Now if have decided and bought a license at a favorable price.
Until now I have only started configuring and learning the basics but already I am convinced that it is a good and well thought out application.
In some ways it is a lot like Aftershot Pro (or is it the other way around) but the user interface is much more intuitive.
Using an application with a lot of users also makes it easier to get help from forums or tutorials.
I al looking forward to digging deeper into the finer details of Lightroom and hopefully it won’t be long before I can publish my first picture edited in Lightroom.

This basket is part of an exhibition at Aalborg Zoo. I took this picture on a winters day, when the sun were still pretty low on the sky.
The Green Door
I had a brief opportunity to play tourist in Copenhagen. I had my “old” EOS 1000D and kit lens with me because I didn’t want to carry around to much gear. As we crossed Langebro, I fell upon this old door to the control tower of the bridge.
A bird in the hand
When it get really cold outside, the local pigeons seem to put all fear of humans aside in exchange for something to eat.
Tiny Sports Car
This initially started as part of a test setup, as I were trying different settings with my Sigma 30mm lens. I really liked the details, and ended up giving it the complete treatment.

Actually it is somewhere in Tuscany. We were hiking, and close to the spot where we were all supposed to meet up, I took this picture of the beautiful landscape.

Lanterns
December in Denmark means trees with lights and lanterns everywhere. It’s a good thing though as it makes it easier to see where you are. After all we have less than 7 hours of light every day in December, so some extra light is needed.

Lamb in evening light
A picture I took on a beautiful evening this summer, just as the sun was setting.
The juicy green grass combined with a white lamb in the warm tones of the setting sun works really well I think.

At the beach
This summer we I went for a very brief trip to Egholm, a tiny island in Limfjorden, on the edge of Aalborg.
The heat was extreme that day, so I didn’t really feel like taking a lot of pictures. I did take this shot though.

Goliath
I took this picture this summer, but it didn’t really appeal to me, so I decided to use it to experiment with the Lomo presets in Topaz Labs Adjust 5. I started with the preset ‘Lomo III’ and then started tweaking until i got this result. I think it turned out pretty decent, although I still prefer a more natural colour range, or monochrome of course.

Mountains in the backyard
For me, the fact that some people have mountains right in their backyard is simply amazing. I just love the nature in Tuscany.

Nihil Ardui Volentia
While hiking in Tuscany we saw a lot of small shelters along the path, that were made of rocks and had been used to stay in overnight back when rock were brought down from the mountain quarries on mules or hauled by men. Many of the small shelters had a relic like this inside.

Via San Giovanni
I had the pleasure of spending 4 days in beautiful Tuscany, Italy last week. So many things to take pictures of, but no time to do it. Still I came home with plenty of great photos. This is one of them. Taken in the small, but wonderful village Pieve Fosciana.
I were mountainbiking / helicopter riding that day, so I tried to travel light. That meant no battery grip on my camera, and just the 40mm pancake attached. I am now officially impressed by the pancakes abilities. It truly rocks.

Smedien
At the foot of the hill in Skalborg, you’ll find a busy bus stop right outside the local pub and the pizzeria. I can’t really comment on the pub “Smedien” (“The smithy”), but the pizzeria makes some decent pizzas. The buildings look rather battered, but considering how busy the road to the left usually is, they just seem to fit in.

Outside a storage building by the docks I found these colourful crates and boxes. Don’t know what ‘FF’ means, but I suppose it is the initials of the fishing boat they belong to.

Killer Clown
One of the participants of this years annual carnival in Aalborg.
I have tried for a while to make a proper coloured version of this shot, but it never seemed to turn out the way I wanted it. I finally accepted that the colours were just too distracting and ended up doing a monochrome version instead. This brought out the look & feel I were looking for.

In the tool shed
This is a picture I took in a tool shed with my new acquisition, a Canon 40mm f/2.8 pancake.
I bought a while ago but It took a little time before the 40mm became more than just a novelty lens for me. Now I really enjoy going somewhere, only equipped with the 40mm.

Amagergade – Christianshavn
I spent a couple of days in Copenhagen this summer. Unfortunately it were intensely pouring down most of the time, so the camera stayed in my backpack most of the time. We did have a couple of hours on the second day without rain, so we went to Christianshavn to look at all the beautiful old buildings there. This street is Amagergade, a street that has been made famous in Denmark because an old seventies tv-show “The House in Christianshavn” were shot and took place here.

Sweet summer memories

Dried fish
The local fishermen in Hals have these small wooden sheds, where they stay in the summertime, when they are not out fishing. Outside one of the sheds I found all these dried fish. The fishermen didn’t mind me taking photos as long as they didn’t appear in the shots 🙂

Found this 3.5 cm long beast sitting on a branch. It kept bashing around with its tail, so a bit of motion blur can be seen there.

Black-tailed Skimmer
Next shot in my mini-set of insects is this beautiful Black-tailed Skimmer (Orthetrum cancellatum) I found sitting on the stump of a cut down tree.
From what I have been able to figure out, it is a full grown male.

Bombus hortorum
I wandered off into a meadow yesterday, looking for something that would make a great photo opportunity. The place was crawling with insects, so I decided to spend the day trying to take pictures of their little world. This is the first shot in a set of four. The rest will follow during the next weeks.

Black Crow
As I was making my morning coffee this morning, this amazing black crow (Corvus Corone) landed on the fence, just outside my kitchen window. Because I have been trying to get a nice shot of a very shy Eurasian Jay that has been visiting our garden lately, I hade my camera right next to me, with the 55-250mm lens attached. I only managed to get 4 quick shot before it flew, It spotted me right away.
